Etsy? What? I’m doing what with Marion the Librarian’s watercolors?

by

My intent was to have completed two more posts about Oregon by now.  Then I got the flu last Tuesday through Thursday and worked yesterday (i.e., was a substitute fifth grade teacher).

What I’ve R-E-A-L-L-Y been spending time on last night and all of today is working to list/sell prints of Mother’s (Marion Gunderson) watercolors on Etsy.  I’ll put the profits toward funding the giclee printing expenses of the Rolfe (Iowa) Public Library fundraiser.

People are still encouraged to purchase prints at the Rolfe Public Library or Wild Faces Gallery in Rolfe, Iowa, or from me by writing checks to the Rolfe Public Library Trust and/or by paying cash.  When those options doen’t work out, Etsy is a nice alternative for people to pay with PayPal or with a credit card.  (A PayPal account is not required to purchase through Etsy.)  Shipping/delivery is also easily arranged via Etsy.

Don’t know what Etsy is?  It is mainly for handmade artsy items.  It also includes a supplies category as well as vintage items.  Prints of Mother’s watercolors fall in the vintage category.

As of right now I have only three print images posted.  I plan to have more over the next two weeks.  By the end of those two weeks, two images will be posted on Etsy that I haven’t posted yet on the blog.

If you want to check out what I’ve listed so far, go to www.mariongundersonart.etsy.com.  Remember, more will be listed over the next couple of weeks.  I’m embarrassed to say that I haven’t proofread all of the listings yet.  If you notice any real boo boos and/or confusing elements of the listings, and don’t mind letting me know, it would be fine for you to put a bug in my ear.

(By the way, the preliminary time-intensive work with the originals and prints, as well as the actual printing, is done by Mike Majorowicz at Wild Faces Giclee in Rolfe.  One original had quite a bit of mold on it.  Mike used his magic so the mold doesn’t show up on the prints.  Also, you may read more about “giclee” at Wikipedia.)

Well-explained, Louise. Thank you! I like the immediate linkability to Etsy and Wiki on giclee. And I really like the nod to Mike. His work is exceptional! My favorite phrase: “Mike used his magic . . . .” 🙂 Yes, indeed!
